Product Support Specialist

Description:
Brookes Publishing, a scholarly publishing company in Towson (just north of Baltimore), is looking for Product Support Specialist to join our team. Brookes publishes highly respected books and other resources in early childhood, early intervention, inclusive and special education, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, literacy, communication and language, behavior, and mental health.

Our titles range from graduate-level textbooks, professional references, and practical handbooks to curricula, assessment tools, and family guidebooks and DVDs. We're proud of our company's independence and long commitment to delivering high quality content to human services professionals.

Key duties:

The successful candidate will be a creative, outgoing self-starter and a proactive team player who will serve on the working team charged with developing and managing our bestselling print- and web-based assessment and curriculum data-management systems for young children with special needs. The Product Support Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Creating and developing effective instructional content to support users
  • Developing and delivering effective interactive product training sessions and webinars
  • Working with product marketing team to define and implement customer communications strategy; establishing and maintaining web community and network for products
  • Providing accurate and timely set up and maintenance of on-line product subscription accounts
  • Collaborating openly and effectively with key stakeholders in IT, Marketing, Sales, and Subsidiary Rights (Professional Development)
  • Coordinating with vendors and internal teams to address on-line subscriber needs and inquiries
  • Establishing relationships with key customers to assist with market research and product beta testing

Requirements:

This position requires

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1–3 years in a product training, product marketing, or publishing-related position
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer operation and Microsoft Suite programs
  • Experience using web-based applications and/or databases
  • Excellent telephone presentation skills with demonstrated ability to disseminate technical, educational, and regulatory information
  • Excellent writing and content creation skills
  • Excellent time-management, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of the education or early childhood education marketplace is a plus

Acquisitions Assistant

Key duties:

The Acquisitions Assistant will be responsible for facilitating the successful acquisition, tracking, and preparation of projects for publication:

  • Assisting and supporting acquisitions editors with author and project management
  • Providing correspondence, agreements, contracts, and other documentation to authors and other business associates
  • Coordinating with other acquisitions staff to ensure prompt communication of product status in the acquisitions process
  • Supporting editors in preparing for conference travel, author meetings, and other acquisitions opportunities
  • Fielding author and prospective author inquiries
  • Conducting continual market and competition research; analyzing trends in assigned list areas
  • Coordinating the external review of product proposals and product content
  • Representing the company at local, statewide, and national conferences as assigned

Requirements:

This position requires

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1–3 years relevant experience and/or mix of experience and education
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer operation and Microsoft Suite programs
  • Excellent communication, editing, and writing skills
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and research skills
  • Strong process-building abilities
