Employment Resources on the Internet
The Internet offers a vast array of resources for people with disabilities and service providers to use during the transition planning and job search process. Some of the ones we like are: Transitionlink: Maintained by Erik Carter, co-author of our "Transition Handbook," Transitionlink provides information, strategies, and resources on the transition process. There is also a discussion forum. The Occupational Information Network: Maintained by the U.S. Department of Labor, ONET, as it is called, provides information on the characteristics and skills needed for a variety of jobs. Visitors can also search for occupations that fit their current skills and interests. Office of Disability and Employment Policy: The web site of this Department of Labor division provides resources on jobs, accommodations, and ODEP programs for people with disabilities and employers. Also not to be missed is the Department's Job Accommodation Network http://www.jan.wvu.edu/, a free service for people with disabilities providing information on their employment rights. recruitABILITY: Online job search site for people with disabilities. Also contains tips on interviews, disclosure, and accommodations.
