Susan A. Katz

Susan A. Katz is an internationally known language arts specialist, poet, and author. Her work has received numerous awards and appeared in many literary publications, anthologies, and journals, such as The American Scholar. Her published poetry collections include An Eye for Resemblances, Two Halves of the Same Silence, and The Separate Sides of Need.

For more than 20 years, Ms. Katz has conducted student poetry workshops independently and for the New York State Poets in Public Service, and she has facilitated international teacher workshops based on the philosophy of integrating the arts into learning curricula. She has worked with students preschool-age through college-age and continues to work with educators to address timely issues through poetry intervention. She and Judith A. Thomas have conducted workshops sponsored by the Yale Prevention Research Center on using poetry to cope with emotions generated by the events of September 11, 2001.
