Nicholas Martin

Nicholas Martin is a conflict resolution consultant who lives near Fort Worth, Texas. Nick is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Hartford, and his educational background is in clinical psychology. After many years as a juvenile court psychologist, mental health counselor, and dispute mediator, he has come to focus increasingly on team building and conflict prevention in special education. He has had the opportunity to provide professional training in a great many states, which has given him helpful perspectives into the nationwide similarities, and at times regional differences, as parents and school personnel work together to live the vision of federal law: decision-making partnership for the benefit of children with special needs.

Nick has been providing highly acclaimed and practically oriented training for more than 30 years. He has also taught dispute resolution at the graduate school level. He is the author of Supporting the IEP Process: A Facilitator's Guide (Paul H. Brookes Publishing, 2010). His other major works include An Operator's Manual for Successful Living, now in its second edition (The Center for Accord, Inc., 2008), Strengthening Relationships When Our Children Have Special Needs (Future Horizons, 2004, also available in Spanish), and A Guide to Collaboration for IEP Teams (Paul H. Brookes Publishing, 2005). He has also published numerous newspaper and journal articles, some of which can be found at his web site, www.4accord.com.
