Judith A. Thomas

Judith A. Thomas is an internationally known Orff-Schulwerk music teacher, author, and professor. She has taught and continues to teach Orff-Schulwerk certification and master classes, world music, and the integration of arts (poetry, music, and movement) to undergraduate and graduate students in the field of music and general education.

Ms. Thomas holds a master’s degree in piano from the University of Illinois and a special certification from the Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria, where she co-directed summer workshops and taught. For 37 years, she served as Music Director and Orff-Schulwerk Specialist at the Upper Nyack Elementary School in New York State, and as districtwide Arts Coordinator. She is currently conducting teacher workshops based on the concepts of integrating the arts in education and is working with teachers and children to help them express themselves joyfully through language, music, and movement.
