Suzi Tortora, Ed.D., C.M.A., A.D.T.R., LCAT, LMHC

Suzi Tortora, Ed.D., C.M.A., A.D.T.R., LCAT, LMHC, author of The Dancing Dialogue: Using the Communicative Power of Movement with Young Children, has a dance movement psychotherapy practice specializing in infant mental health issues such as developmental delays, autism, attachment disorders, and adoption. She received her bachelor's degree in child development, education and psychology from Tufts University; her master's degree in dance movement therapy from New York University; and her doctorate in early childhood education and development from Teachers College, Columbia University. A certified Laban Movement Analyst and Kestenberg Movement Profiler, she teaches creative and meditative dance for all ages and has more than 20 years of experience designing wellness, preventative, and therapeutic mental health programs that incorporate movement and dance-based activities.

Dr. Tortora has developed a dance therapy program for pediatric patients at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, where she has also created a multi-sensory technique to support pain management with infants and young children undergoing painful medical procedures. She trains allied professionals and lectures about her dance therapy work at national and international meetings and universities. A two-time guest editor of ZERO TO THREE journal, Dr. Tortora is also on the board of the New York ZERO TO THREE Network and has been featured on Good Morning America, in Women's Day, and in The New Yorker.
