Seminar Description

Good vocabulary development is something every proficient reader must have. That’s why any educator whose work involves literacy development will benefit from this interactive seminar, which teaches proven, research-based methods for building children’s vocabulary and strengthening reading comprehension. After the seminar, participants will


  • understand factors that influence vocabulary acquisition, reading comprehension, and academic achievement
  • use effective methods for teaching children high utility words
  • teach vocabulary across grade levels
  • modify teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • help students become independent word learners who can monitor their own comprehension and clarify unfamiliar words as they read

Participants will also learn from helpful photocopiable handouts and exercises that allow them to practice the instructional methods presented in the seminar.
