Each form generally takes 20–40 minutes to complete, 20–30 minutes to score by hand, and less time to score by machine

English and Spanish. Note: The CDIs and Inventarios were developed separately to reflect linguistic and cultural differences and the vocabulary and grammatical structure of each language.

MacArthur–Bates Communicative Development Inventories (CDIs), Second Edition, and MacArthur Inventarios del Desarollo de Habilidades Commuicativas (Inventarios)
The CDIs and their Spanish adaptation, the Inventarios, are standardized, parent-completed report forms that track young children's language and communication skills.

- Forms are responsive to Public Law 99-457, which requires family involvement in child evaluation procedures
